CAMBRIDGE, UK, and BUDAPEST, Hungary – LVGL Ltd, the company behind the widely adopted open-source graphics library for embedded devices, today announced a substantial equity investment from Interactive Venture Partners, an investment firm backed by the family office of Thomas Peterffy, Chairman and Founder of Interactive Brokers.
What started as an open-source graphics library has grown into one of the world's most widely adopted embedded UI technologies, powering hundreds of millions of devices worldwide. Over the past two years, LVGL has evolved into a comprehensive embedded UI platform. This investment will accelerate its international expansion and the development of a broader embedded UI platform, combining open-source software with commercial tools, engineering support, and technology for safety-critical applications.
Alongside the investment, LVGL is introducing the LVGL Pro Community License, making LVGL Pro freely available for open-source projects, personal use, and prototyping.
Our community has helped bring LVGL into products used around the world. We are building on that foundation to accelerate market adoption and support more customers from the first prototype through the entire product lifecycle. This investment brings us closer to our vision: making rich, intuitive user experiences possible on hardware once considered too constrained.
That vision extends beyond the graphics library itself. LVGL Open provides the open-source foundation, while LVGL Pro gives teams professional tools to build on it. LVGL XML Runtime enables dynamic interface updates on deployed devices, and LVGL Safe addresses the requirements of safety-critical applications with certifiable UI technology.
As AI and software make physical products more capable, intuitive interfaces become increasingly important. LVGL helps developers deliver those experiences within the tight memory and processing constraints of embedded devices. Its widespread developer adoption provides a strong foundation for growth and a clear opportunity to become even more important for embedded UI development.
